OHB exhibiting at Russian air show MAKS
- OHB subsidiary Kayser-Threde involved in German-Russian partnership
Moscow/Zhukovsky, August 18, 2009 - This
year again, space technology company OHB Technology AG (Prime
Standard, ISIN: DE0005936124) is present at the Russian aeronautics and
aerospace fair MAKS, which is taking place in Zhukovsky near Moscow on August 18
- 23. This marks the eighth time since 1995 that the OHB Group is attending the
largest exhibition in the Eastern European space technology industry.
At the opening of the air show, Marco R. Fuchs, CEO of OHB Technology
AG, had this to say: "We have forged some very successful long-standing
partnerships with Russia. The best examples are the five perfect launches of
the SAR-Lupe satellites on board Russian COSMOS rockets. By participating in
the air show, we wish to express the close ties which we have established with
our Russian partners and are continuing to nurture.
At the same time, a new chapter is being written in the story of the OHB
Group's relations with the Russian space industry: Today, the German Aerospace
Center (DLR) and the Russian space authority Roskosmos signed a partnership
agreement for a German-Russian satellite mission. The purpose of the mission is
to search for dark energy and dark material on the basis of systematic proof of
black holes and hot intergalactic gas. The technology required for this
purpose, the x-ray telescope eROSITA (extended ROentgen Survey with
an Imaging Telescope Array), is being developed by the
Max-Planck Institute of Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) with the support of OHB
subsidiary Kayser-Threde as an industrial partner. eROSITA is expected to be
launched on board the Russian Spektrum-X-Gamma satellite in 2012.
