German space technology industry materially responsible for the success of the ARIANE mission.

On Tuesday evening August 14, Arianespace placed two communications satellites into geostationary transfer orbit: SPACEWAY 3 for the American operator Hughes Network Systems, LLC, and BSAT-3a for the American manufacturer Lockheed Martin Commercial Satellite Systems as part of a turnkey contract with Broadcasting Satellite System Corporation (B-SAT) of Japan.

MT Aerospace AG, Augsburg played a decisive role in the success of this launch. The newly developed welded, and therefore lighter, booster was used for this launch. As well as being more economic in production, this booster achieves a considerable reduction in weight leading to an increase of approximately 200 kg in the payload of Ariane 5. With this advanced development MT Aerospace not only proves its technological ex-pertise but also makes a substantial contribution to increasing the profitability of the European launcher Ariane 5.
