The space utility vehicle is designed for transporting cargo to low-Earth orbit

Bremen, December 5, 2018. OHB System AG, a subsidiary of space and technology group OHB SE, signed a contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for a study to analyse the feasibility and opportunities to use Sierra Nevada Corporation’s (SNC) Dream Chaser spacecraft as a post-International Space Station (ISS) platform for European missions in low-Earth orbit (LEO). The study has an order value of 350,000 euros and runs for over a year. OHB is leading a consortium consisting of SNC and 4SPACE.

Bremen now has a Manfred Fuchs Square and OHB will soon have another production facility

Bremen, December 3, 2018. Starting today, a square in Bremen commemorates the life and work of the entrepreneur Manfred Fuchs, who died in 2014 and who, together with his wife Christa and son Marco, established OHB and made it internationally known. Manfred Fuchs Square, whose street sign was unveiled this morning, is located directly in front of OHB’s headquarters at the University Technology Park. This was also the venue of the ground-breaking ceremony held today for a new OHB production facility for space projects.

OHB’s satellite design proves mechanical robustness

Bremen / Ottobrunn, November 13, 2018. OHB System AG, a subsidiary of the Bremen-based space and technology group OHB System AG, is the principal contractor for the development and construction of the EDRS-C satellite. EDRS-C is the second node of for the European Data Relay System (EDRS), also referred to as SpaceDataHighway, which is a public-private partnership between the European Space Agency (ESA) and Airbus. The telecommunications satellite is currently undergoing several months of testing at IABG’s Space Test Centre to validate it for space flight. The SmallGeo satellite successfully completed acoustic testing on November 6, 2018.

Bremen, October 22, 2018. On October 20th at 3.45 a.m. (CEST), the BepiColombo mission from the European Space Agency was successfully launched from spaceport Kourou, French Guyana, with an Ariane 5 vehicle. BepiColombo is the first European mission to Mercury, which will provide measurements to allow unprecedented studies of composition, origin and dynamics of Mercury’s exosphere and polar deposits as well as of the structure and dynamics of Mercury’s magnetosphere.

CONTRACT SIGNED BY ESA DIRECTOR GENERAL AND OHB CEO AT IAC

Bremen, October 4th, 2018. At the International Astronautical Congress(IAC) currently taking place in Bremen, ESA Director General Johann-Dietrich Wörner and OHB Chief Executive Officer Marco Fuchs today signed a contract naming OHB System AG, a subsidiary of listed space and technology company OHB SE, the industrial principal contractor for PLATO (Planetary Transits and Oscillations of Stars), the next major scientific research mission. The contract value is EUR 288 million. The European Space Agency (ESA) wants to launch the PLATO space observatory in 2026 to detect and study exoplanets1) that are orbiting other stars.

Bremen, October 2nd, 2018. OHB System AG, a subsidiary of listed technology group OHB SE, has awarded the principal subcontract for the national Heinrich Hertz satellite mission today at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC 2018) in Bremen in the presence of representatives of the Space Administration of the German Aerospace Center (DLR): The Backnang-based company Tesat has received a contract from OHB for the assembly and verification of the scientific/technical payload and for the construction of the repeater for the military payload on board the communications satellite.

Bremen, October 2, 2018. The OHB Group today signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for future cooperation with the U.S. aerospace company Blue Origin. The document was signed by Dr. Lutz Bertling and Kurt Melching, members of the Management Board of OHB SE, Hans J. Steininger, CEO of MT Aerospace and Bob Smith, CEO of Blue Origin, during a bilateral meeting at the International Space Congress IAC in Bremen.

Over the many years in which it has been operating in low earth orbit, the International Space Station ISS has provided valuable new insight  for human spaceflight, thus paving the way for ambitious missions. Now, the ISS partners Europe, USA, Russia, Japan and Canada are casting their eyes to the future and currently planning the next major milestone in human spaceflight, namely a lunar orbital base for crewed missions to the moon or Mars. The working title is currently “Lunar Orbital Platform Gateway” or simply “Gateway”.

Together with its international subsidiaries, space and technology group OHB SE will be exhibiting at the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Bremen on October 1 - 5. OHB has its own stand and will be holding various presentations and organizing sessions at IAC, which is taking place at the Bremen fair grounds and is expected to attract 4,500 international experts from the aerospace industry. July 20, 2018, Kourou / Bremen. All systems are go for the final four Galileo FOC satellites assembled by Bremen-based satellite engineering company OHB System AG under the second batch awarded by ESA. This is the result of yesterday’s launch readiness review (LRR) completed at Centre Spatial Guyanais (CSG) in Kourou, where the navigation satellites will be placed in orbit on board an Ariane 5 launcher next Wednesday, July 25, 2018.

June 30 is Asteroid Day, which is being supported by OHB SE again

110 years ago, on June 30, 1908, the world was shaken by the largest ever asteroid impact in the recent history of mankind. It devastated an area of around 2,000 square kilometers, equivalent in size to a large metropolitan region, in Tunguska, Russia. The fact that there were no victims was due solely to the fact that the asteroid hit the Earth in the remote Tunguska region in Siberia.

Bremen, June 13,  2018. The telecommunications satellite H36W-1 from OHB System AG, which was launched at the beginning of 2017, has been in HISPASAT service for one year now. As the name suggests, the satellite was placed in the constellation of the Spanish satellite operator at the geostationary position above the 36th western degree of longitude. From there, H36W-1 provides flexible broadband coverage in the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands and South America.

Bremen - The Supervisory Board of Bremen-based space and technology group OHB SE has appointed Dr. Lutz Bertling to the Management Board effective April 1, 2018. In this new position, he will oversee corporate development, space services and digitalization. In addition, the Supervisory Board has appointed Kurt Melching, who is already a member of the Management Board of OHB System AG and director of finance and controlling of OHB SE, to the Management Board of OHB SE, also effective April 1, 2018. Order received for carrier module for the long journey to the Red Planet

OHB System AG, a subsidiary of listed space and technology company OHB SE, and Thales Alenia Space, joint venture Thales 67% and Leonardo 33%, have signed a contract worth € 102.6 million under which the Bremen-based space systems specialist is to supply the carrier module for the second ExoMars mission.

Bremen. The Bremen-based aerospace and technology group OHB SE is expanding its service activities with the establishment of OHB Satellitenbetrieb GmbH. The purpose of the new company is to pool the Group’s numerous activities and to continue specializing in the operation of satellite systems and related ground stations. Moreover, OHB Satellitenbetrieb GmbH will be managing satellite constellations and providing related services.

Bremen – With the founding of Blue Horizon Germany, Bremen-based space and technology group OHB SE is broadening its activities in the New Space sector. In April 2017, the listed company founded the start-up Blue Horizon in Luxembourg – as a company intended to substantiate the vision of enabling sustainable living in outer space and revitalising desolated landscapes on Earth. Both are enabled by technologies and processes from the field of “life sciences”.
