OHB employees sought-after experts at the International Astronomical Congress IAC 2017 – the international sector get-together taking place in Australia

Board members and experts from all companies within the Bremen-based space and technology group OHB SE are traveling to Adelaide, Australia, to attend the International Astronautical Congress IAC at which space agencies, the space technology industry and also scientists will be present in large numbers. The organizers have accepted more than 20 presentations from representatives of the OHB SE subsidiaries OHB System AG, MT Aerospace AG and Antwerp Space.

Luxembourg, Silicon Valley -- More than 700 events in 190 countries around the world are planned for Asteroid Day on June 30, 2017, the anniversary of Earth's largest asteroid impact in recorded history, the 1908 Siberia Tunguska event, which devastated 2000 sq. kilometers (770 square miles) of forest in Siberia, Russia.

“Max Valier” nano-satellite successfully launched

Sriharikota/ India, Bolzano/ South Tirol, Bremen/Germany, June 23, 2017: Today at 6.00 hours CEST, “Max Valier Sat”, a satellite for school students and amateur radio users, was launched on board an Indian PSLV rocket lifting off from the Dhawan Space Centre around 80 kilometers north of Chennai. Working closely with teachers and school students from the Technology College (TFO) of Bolzano, South Tirol, specialists from Bremen-based space company OHB System AG developed and built this nano-satellite. One particular highlight is the mini x-ray telescope added to the mission by the Max Planck Institute of Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE) in Garching.

OHB telecommunications satellite demonstrating full functional capability in orbit

First SmallGEO handed over to customer HISPASAT

Bremen June 02, 2017. Launched at the beginning of the year, the H36W-1 telecommunications satellite supplied by OHB System AG has been handed over to Spanish satellite operator HispaSat following the completion of an In Orbit Test period of more than 80 days. This trial confirms the design and configuration of the new European SmallGEO satellite platform, simultaneously testifying to the fact that the German space industry has regained system capabilities for telecommunications satellites.

OHB supporting ESA BIC Challenge at the INNOspace — Masters Start-ups awarded

Bremen, 17. Mai 2017. At the INNOspace Masters Awards ceremony, which was held in the presence of Brigitte Zypries, the Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, in Berlin, Sebastian Marcu prevailed over the competition with his “Bake in Space” project in the ESA BIC Challenge supported by OHB. The ESA BIC Challenge is searching for business ideas and new business models aimed at achieving substantial progress in the commercialization of space. This was the second time that OHB SE (Prime Standard, ISIN DE0005936124) supported the ESA BIC Challenge and the company is eagerly awaiting the exchange with the winners.

Successful mission by sounding rocket MAXUS-9

Esrange launch site, North Sweden, April 7, 2017. At 11:30 local time, the noise of a launching rocket pierced the snow-covered landscape in the vicinity of the Esrange launch pad near Koruna in Northern Sweden. An unmanned MAXUS sounding rocket embarked on its ballistic flight, which took it to an altitude of 678 kilometers, where it provided weightless conditions for a period of 12 minutes. It was precisely this period of the flight that researchers were eagerly awaiting in order to perform the scientific and technological experiments which the rocket was carrying in its interior. On its 10th MAXUS mission, the rocket had a length of 15.5 meters and a launch mass of 12.3 tons. OHB System AG was again materially involved in the success of the mission.

OHB with a successful launch into a geostationary orbit

Bremen/Kourou, January 28, 2017. In the early hours of the morning, the telecommunications satellite H36W-1 produced by space technology company OHB System AG reached its target orbit at an altitude of 36,000 kilometers. A Russian Soyuz carrier had lifted off on schedule at 2.03 hours CET from Europe’s Spaceport in Kourou, French-Guyana. Roughly half an hour later, the carrier released the satellite with a mass of 3,200 kg into its geostationary transfer orbit.
