MT Mechatronics participating in major Heinrich Hertz mission

Mainz/Bochum September 21, 2018. The Mainz-based company MT Mechatronics Germany, a subsidiary of MT Aerospace AG within the OHB group, has today been awarded a contract for the production and delivery of five antennas by prime contractor SCISYS Deutschland GmbH for the ground segment of the “Heinrich Hertz” national satellite communications mission.

High-voltage performance at OHB

Little brother’s got some moves: OHB System AG, a subsidiary of listed space and technology company OHB SE, together with the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Engineering and Automation IPA, has designed a mobile and certified mini clean-room cover for protecting particularly sensitive products in clean-room facilities. Known as the µCAPE®, it is the smaller version of the CAPE®, which has been on the market for several months.

Four in one go: OHB Galileo satellites successfully launched

July 25, 2018, Kourou / Bremen. Lift-off for Tara, Samuel, Anna and Ellen: Today at 13.25 hours (CET) the final four Galileo FOC* satellites from Batch 2 commenced their voyage into space on board an Ariane 5 launcher which lifted off from the Kourou space center in French-Guyana.

All systems go: Four more OHB satellites for Galileo cleared for launch on July 25

July 20, 2018, Kourou / Bremen. All systems are go for the final four Galileo FOC satellites assembled by Bremen-based satellite engineering company OHB System AG under the second batch awarded by ESA. This is the result of yesterday’s launch readiness review (LRR) completed at Centre Spatial Guyanais (CSG) in Kourou, where the navigation satellites will be placed in orbit on board an Ariane 5 launcher next Wednesday, July 25, 2018.

OHB CEO Fuchs: Asteroid research to protect the Earth

June 30 is Asteroid Day, which is being supported by OHB SE again

110 years ago, on June 30, 1908, the world was shaken by the largest ever asteroid impact in the recent history of mankind. It devastated an area of around 2,000 square kilometers, equivalent in size to a large metropolitan region, in Tunguska, Russia. The fact that there were no victims was due solely to the fact that the asteroid hit the Earth in the remote Tunguska region in Siberia.

First anniversary at 36,000 km altitude

Bremen, June 13,  2018. The telecommunications satellite H36W-1 from OHB System AG, which was launched at the beginning of 2017, has been in HISPASAT service for one year now. As the name suggests, the satellite was placed in the constellation of the Spanish satellite operator at the geostationary position above the 36th western degree of longitude. From there, H36W-1 provides flexible broadband coverage in the Iberian Peninsula, the Canary Islands and South America.

Research rocket TEXUS tests experiments for space suitability

In the morning of May 13, 2018, an unmanned TEXUS rocket completed its mission in the skies above Northern Sweden. After lifting from the European launch pad ESRANGE near Kiruna at 10:30 a.m. local time, it reached an altitude of 239 kilometers.

Dr. Lutz Bertling and Kurt Melching appointed to the Management Board of OHB SE

Bremen - The Supervisory Board of Bremen-based space and technology group OHB SE has appointed Dr. Lutz Bertling to the Management Board effective April 1, 2018. In this new position, he will oversee corporate development, space services and digitalization. In addition, the Supervisory Board has appointed Kurt Melching, who is already a member of the Management Board of OHB System AG and director of finance and controlling of OHB SE, to the Management Board of OHB SE, also effective April 1, 2018. OHB System AG, a subsidiary of the Bremen-based space and technology group OHB SE, signed a contract with the European Space Agency ESA for a study “Conceiving a Lunar Base Using 3D Printing Technologies”. OHB is leading a team with three more partners (Comex, Liquifer, Sonaca). The team will evaluate the feasibility and implementation effort of using Additive Layer Manufacturing in the construction, operations and maintenance of a lunar base.
