German SAR-Lupe satellite safely in orbit
The first German reconnaissance satellite in the SAR-Lupe system has been successfully placed in orbit. The Russian Cosmos 3M launch vehicle took off on schedule from the Russian Plesetsk space station south of Archangelsk at 15:00:19 hours Central European Time, placing the first of a total of five radar satellites in its low orbit at an altitude of around 500 km half an hour later as planned.

At 15:00:19 hours Central European Time on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, the first of a total of five SAR-Lupe reconnaissance satellites will be placed in orbit for the German Armed Forces onboard a COSMOS 3M launcher taking off from the Plesetsk space center.

European Reconnaissance System being implemented
Bremen-based space technology company OHB-System AG has today been awarded a contract by the German Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB), Koblenz, for the implementation of the European satellite-based reconnaissance system. The contract was signed at the BWB head offices in Koblenz by its vice-president Harald Stein and Prof. Manfred Fuchs, CEO of OHB-System AG.

OHB Technology increases 9-month earnings per share to 60 cents
The OHB Technology Group (Prime Standard, ISIN: DE0005936124) also profited from the successful takeover and integration of MT Aerospace AG in the third quarter 2006. OHB awarded contract for biological experiment on board the International Space Station
Bremen-based space technology company OHB-System AG is building the first experiment for the BIOLAB biological research laboratory on board the COLUMBUS, the European section of the ISS International Space Station. To be known as WAICO, the research system will be examining root growth in arabidopsis, also known as thale or mouse-ear cress, in varying degrees of gravity as well as in completely weightless conditions. Worth EUR 1.7 million, the contract has been awarded by Astrium GmbH, Friedrichshafen.

German chancellor Angela Merkel accompanied by OHB Board member on her trip to Turkey
Prof. Manfred Fuchs, CEO of OHB-System AG, traveled with German chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel and roughly 40 other political and business representatives to Turkey at the end of last week. The program provided for a great deal of scope for negotiations between German and Turkish business leaders.

Launch date announced for SAR Lupe
The first of five SAR Lupe satellites has been completed by the Bremen aerospace company OHB-System AG. At the Flight Readiness Review held on September 19 and 20, 2006, the principal – the Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB) – gave the go-ahead for the continuation of the project and also confirmed its announced launch date.
German Federal Economy Minister Glos visits OHB
Michael Glos (CSU), Germany’s minister for economic affairs, paid a visit to Bremen on 24 August. His helicopter, with Bremen’s senator for the economy and ports, Jörg Kastendiek (CDU) on board, landed at the space aviation center OHB in Bremen’s technology park that afternoon.

MT Aerospace awarded contract for Japanese space programs
MT Aerospace AG, Augsburg, a subsidiary of OHB Technology AG (ISIN: DE0005936124) has been awarded a contract by Japanese company Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI), Ltd., Tokyo, for the delivery of components for the HTV, the unmanned Japanese space transporter. The components, which will be produced in Augsburg, will form part of the interior structure separating the vehicle’s drive from the transportation area.

First OHB Hardware on Course for the ISS International Space Station
US Space Shuttle Discovery lifted off successfully from Cape Canaveral, Florida, yesterday evening. On board is the biological research laboratory EMCS, the European Modular Cultivation System. Bremen-based space technology company OHB-System AG constructed the heart of this bio laboratory in the form of two centrifuges and is thus sending its first hardware to the ISS.

ORBCOMM announces completion of equity financings
OHB Technology affiliated company ORBCOMM, Dulles, Va., United States, a global satellite telecommunications company, today announced that it has completed equity financings totaling over $110 million led by Pacific Corporate Group (PCG), which committed $60 million.
