Unmanned sounding rocket TEXUS-51 was launched from the isolated launch site ESRANGE in Kiruna in northern Sweden on April 23, 2015 at 09:35 CEST. TEXUS missions focus primarily on exploring the properties and behavior of materials, chemicals and biological substances under weightless conditions (microgravitation).
“Adam” and “Anastasia”, the two Galileo FOC* satellites number three and four developed and built by OHB System AG, were successfully launched on board a Soyuz rocket, which lifted off from the Kourou space center in French-Guyana yesterday at 22:46 hours CET.
They reached their planned orbit at an altitude of around 23,000 kilometers just under four hours later, shortly after they sent their first “sign of life” to the French Space Control Center of CNES in Toulouse. Over the next few days, the two satellites will be undergoing preliminary function testing.
OHB System AG is funding a new chair at the University of the Armed Forces in Munich. This is a junior professorship in secure satellite communications. The endowment deed was today signed by Marco R. Fuchs, the Chief Executive Officer of OHB System AG, and Prof. Merith Niehuss, the President of the University of the Armed Forces Munich.
